音樂會啟發自台灣作家徐國能先生的著作《第九味》，香港青年作曲家將以酸、甜、苦、辣- 鹹、澀、腥、沖八味為題，創作出全新音樂作品。同時香港不同地方的影片及聲音在八味中穿插，讓觀眾由另一角度了解香港，從聽覺聯想到味覺的變化，感受屬於香港的「第九味」。
The concert inspired by ‘The Ninth Taste’ written by Hsu Kuo-Neng. Hong Kong young composers will compose new works based on the 8 flavours: sour, sweet, bitter, spicy, savory, astringent, fishy, and pungent. Videos and sounds from different locations of Hong Kong will be interwoven with these compositions. Audience could taste the Hong Kong in an unusual perspective, and experience the “Ninth Taste” that belongs to here.

約20萬年前，人類首次創造了音樂。他們敲擊石頭，仰望天空，聽著心跳的節奏。在《均律圓環》中，比利時作曲家Stefaan Quix將原始節拍轉化為一場音樂會，敲擊樂手把聽眾帶入一個如蟋蟀鳴叫的音景之中。
最後敲擊樂手會聯同香港狂人樂團作曲家把大家帶回現代，透過日常生活的物件、特殊樂器、甚至只要一個嘴巴讓大家參與表演，控制樂曲及聲音上的發展。
置身於這聲音之中，閉上雙眼，讓音樂帶你進入這片聲音的宇宙。

Around 200,000 years ago, humans first made music. They knocked stones together and listened to the heart-beating rhythm while looking up at the sky. In The Well-Tempered Circle, Stefaan Quix transforms these primitive beats into a performance. You will be placed in a soundscape reminiscent of a throng of crickets.
Finally, the percussionists with the composers from the Maniacs, will lead the audience in a performance, controlling the development of sonic materials together with objects, special instruments, and even just a mouth.
Take your place in this room, close your eyes, and experience to the universe of sound.

2026年為農曆的馬年。香港狂人樂團希望以這種充滿活力的動物作主題，向大家呈現不同國家有關馬的聲音及音樂，同時加入香港年輕作曲家對馬的聯想及全新創作，令觀眾體驗馬的不同形象。
曲目包括William Tell Overture, 餓馬搖鈴, 蒙古民歌, 小黃馬等樂曲，由樂團成員改編。
2026 is the Year of the Horse in the lunar calendar. The Maniacs will use this energetic animal as the theme, presenting the sound and music related to horses from different countries. The ensemble will incorporate the ideas and innovative compositions of young Hong Kong composers inspired by horses. The program includes pieces such as ‘William Tell Overture”, “Hungry Horse Rattle,” Mongolian folk songs, and “Little Yellow Horse,” all arranged by the ensemble members.
